VOIP4MARINES
is a phone service based
on Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP). It uses a phone adapter to convert
your voice into a digital signal. Simply plug the phone adapter into a
broadband internet connection anywhere in the world and instantly make
and receive calls using the same phone number
What do you need to activate
the service? All you need is a high-speed Internet connection which can
be either DSL or Cable Modem. What Is VOIP? Voice over Internet Protocol
(VoIP) is the technology that enables you to make and receive phone calls
thru the Internet instead of using the traditional analog PSTN (Public
Switched Telephone Network) lines. It is also referred to as Broadband
Phone Service.
Broadband Phone Service uses
ANY existing broadband internet connection to make and take phone calls.
A phone adapter called an Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA) is a small device
that plugs into a high speed internet connection and converts voice traffic
into data traffic. This data traffic then travels across the internet
to the end point and is then converted back to voice. Your regular telephone
plugs into the ATA and does not require any special hardware. Once you
have plugged a regular telephone into the ATA, you are ready to make and
receive calls. The sound quality will typically be as good as using a
POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) for a much lower cost to you. Because
the phone number is assigned to the phone adapter, you can take it with
you to anywhere you have high speed internet (ie: DSL or cable modem). |
